Forms, Forms, Forms - All NBISD Choir students must complete three forms; Field Trip Form • Handbook Acknowledgment Form • Media Release Form. Click this link to go to the Forms page on UnicornChoir.org
Choir Fee - The Choir Fee for OakRun Choir students this year is $25 and is due by Friday, September 14th. This fee covers the cost of the Choir T-Shirt and the forScore App. Please make checks payable to ORMS Choir. ****Financial assistance is available on a case-by-case basis. Please provide a note or email explaining your circumstances to Mr. Thomasson to discuss your options****
THIS WEEK IN CLASS
This week in choir class, we are learning/reviewing a singer's posture and breathing for singing.
We are learning how to clap, say, and write in counting for rhythms.
We are learning to recognize DO, MI, and SO on a staff
6th graders are learning to look at a choir music score by beginning to learn "My America" by Joyce Eilers
7th-8th graders are reviewing how to mark a choir score by learning the SATB version of our arrangement of the "Star Spangled Banner."
Grades
Your child's grade may be very low in choir right now. This is due to missing assignment grades for the Forms mentioned above. Please get the forms submitted ASAP.
If you are not already, please figure out a way for your child to access txConnect to monitor their grades.

Communication
It is the goal of the director to maintain open communication with all students, parents, faculty, and administration. I will provide several formats for all communication, so there should never be a reason that someone was uninformed. UnicornChoir.org and CHARMS will serve as the primary forms of communication directly from me to you. CHARMS will allow me to send emails and texts, but you must make sure that your contact information is always up-to-date. The director will use Remind101 occasionally. Please follow these login instructions to enter or update your student’s information.
CHARMS:
Go to https://www.charmsoffice.com
Enter the school code ORunicorn (not case sensitive)
Enter your student’s ID number as the “Student Area Password”
Click on the “update profile” icon
Select “add new adult”
Update all information (most importantly name, cell phone and carrier, and email)
Click “Update”
Remind101 (Parents and Students):
Create a new text message
Type 81010 where the phone number goes
Type your class code in the text message body
Beginning Choir (1st period): @unicorn6th
Mixed Choir (2nd period: @unicorn7-8
Send the text message. You’re done!
